What a first year we had here at our metal blog. There has been many up's and downs but after all, we are still here to bring all of you joy, with our experiences and information about everything from the deepest underground music to the biggest festivals in the world.
As many of you must know we are a little short on writers/reviewers at our blog and therefore, there is less happening on our page at the moment from what we used too. We are doing everything we can for our viewers to be satisfied with our posts on our facebook and blog as well. We really hope that every one of you will be with us for another exciting year, cause we got some great things ahead to share with the world. We surely cannot thank you guys enough for being there with us every step on our way through breathtaking and great experiences! Here are our thoughts on 2018 as separate writers/reviewers. See you in 2019!

BEST FESTIVAL (2018)
Steelfest Open Air 2018
Where: Hyvinkaa, Finland
Date: 18-19 May
After sixteen festivals this year all over Europe, I have tried a lot of different festivals and there is no doubt that Steelfest was the one for me. After being on a small festival in Bauska, Latvia where the surroundings was an old castle and beautiful lakes with a view that was breathtaking you must think, that this must be the best place you ever visited for a festival. In my case, I was absolutely drawn to Steelfest by the very thought of just going to a festival that had every band that was on my "must see" checklist. The festival itself is not too big and not too small, which makes the crowd for the shows much more comfortable. There are two stages, one inside a big hall where there is even enough room for all the people at the festival if the weather gets totally out of hand, and there is a stage outside. My favorite part is that there are no overlapping bands so you have the opportunity to watch every single band and get the full experience. Plenty of food options and merchandise options together with a lot of bars that even got special offers throughout the day. There is always a place to sit down for those who needs that. I can say that my only downs about the festival is that you can only enter the festival once pr. day, so no going in and out and besides that, the bathroom lines are quite long at times. I really miss the festival and cannot wait to be there for 2019's edition.
BEST CONCERT (2018)
Satanic Warmaster
Where: Steelfest Open Air 2018
After seeing 236 metal bands this year there was nothing like Satanic Warmaster at this years Steelfest in Hyvinkaa, Finland. It was an impressive show with an energy that was spread throughout one of the festivals largest audience. Live with them they had Henri Sorvali from Moonsorrow and Finntroll on keyboards which gave the show a bigger feeling and energy within the sound.
What are you looking forward to for 2019?
I am looking forward to hearing more from Genfærd, and what they have in their sleeves for us since they are in the studio at the moment. Trying even more new festivals are also on my list for next year. But most of all I am looking forward to checking more bands of my "must see" list at next years Steelfest Open Air.
Upcoming releases that I am looking forward to (2019)
Vargrav: Reign In Supreme Darkness
Advent Sorrow (New album)
Mist of Misery: Unalterable (Almost two hours in lenght)
SAOR: Forgotten Paths
Concerts that I am looking forward to (2019)
Vargrav's first time ever performing live. (Steelfest)
One of Severoth's first performances live. (Metal East)
Advent Sorrow live. (Steelfest)

BEST MUSIC MOVIE (2018)
Bohemian Rhapsody I could watch it over and over again. I expect at least 1 Oscar for Rami Malek for his incredible interpretation of Freddie Mercury and his unbelievable talent in acting!
What are you looking forward to for 2019?
In 2019 I look forward to Amager Bio opening again, been missing going to concerts there. It will always be my favorite place for concerts. I expect much from this venue in 2019. I am also looking very much forward to attending Inferno Metal Festival in Oslo, It has been too long and I've missed both the festival and Norway. Royal Metal Fest will also be one of my favorite reunions next year since I also get to see Taake again. Dark Mental Festival is like summercamp with all of your self chosen family, so of course it is a winner.
The brand new albums from Iron Fire and Genfærd which will be released in 2019 is already favorites, and will be hard to compete with in my opinion.
2019 will be awesome.

BEST CONCERT (2018)
Cytotoxin (and Aborted, Benighted & Cryptopsy)
Where: Pumpehuset, Copenhagen, Denmark
FINALLY! I’ve been a big fan of the band for years now and 2018 marked the year where I finally got to see them live, and what an insane evening it turned out to be.
The vocalist came out on stage carrying a huge barrel, made to look like radioactive waste, while wearing a Soviet-era gasmask and from the first 300bpm notes were played on the guitar, to the last drum-fill rang out approximately 30 minutes later, I was in heaven. Plutonium heaven. The entire evening was filled with insane moshpits, endless circlepits and there was even a moment of spitting blood to the soundtrack of Aborted after catching a crowd-diver with my face. A truly insane evening with some of the best technical death metal that has ever graced Danish soil.

BEST FESTIVAL (2018)
I sadly can’t write much about festivals this year, as I only attended Copenhell as a guest, and Dark Mental Festival as an artist, however, both are great examples of both bigger and smaller Danish festivals and how they differ from each other. Where Copenhell has the bigger festival atmosphere and of course the ‘bigger’ bands, Dark Mental has the better underground bands and given its size, pretty impressive bookings in regards to black and extreme metal! I might be biased as I’ve had the fortune of playing at Dark Mental more than once with my respective bands, but I know I’ll be going again in 2019, and it honestly remains my favorite Danish festival. Plus... Dark Mental managed to book UADA.. Copenhell didn’t.. ‘Nuff said!
What are you looking forward to for 2019?
I’m looking forward to seeing more new bands next year, it seems like the Danish bookers are slowly warming up to tech-death and I’m hoping the trend continues, as we’ve managed to pull some pretty big names like Archspire and Rivers of Nihil this year. I’m also very much looking forward to getting more involved in Metal To Go, as I’m a fairly new addition to the site! So there’s going to be a lot of concerts, a lot of words of type, and a lot of good memories hopefully! 2019’s looking pretty good!
THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL YEAR! STAY SAFE!
