Two months has almost gone by since the freshly joined Danish act Glemsel freed their debut release to haunt the world. These three Copenhagen based guys appear to be drawn to the old school black metal sound that has been carried to the spotlight more and more these days, in a sort of "revival".
"Mysterious" would have been a desirable word for "Unangivet", although its inspirational path appears uninteresting from its starting point, turning towards the ending where ‘En Sidste Bøn’ as the longest track take all points for production.
Capturing some profound emotional detail within the vocals, in particular on ‘Moders Gråd’ by including the inauguration of the mothers sobbing, or on ‘Ligegyldigheden’, where we are dealing with a fine match between rhythm and the long haunted howls. The harmony is intact throughout, which builds a solid overall glance for the record not to be too monotonous, when the displayed seven tracks are brief in their approach.
It is definitely impressive to see all the recent additions to Danish black metal, presenting what we have to show within the genre. I must say many of these tracks are too familiar in sound, with plenty presented ahead, and that makes it tough for me to select this release as one to go for on a regular day. I would like to hear this record live to give my opinion thereto.
