Unlight

The Germans...
Unlight inaugurated the stage last Wednesday, introducing this dark night at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen. Since 1997, the four members released countless albums that have formed their now medium-tempo solid black metal sound that lasted throughout their robust performance witnessed by the already powerful crowd. We were introduced to songs like '
Create And Annihilate' which once again confirmed to us that they can bring their catchy sound to live as well. Many expressions were expressed by their bass player who really caught the audience's attention, and overall, they were capable of bringing some of their also tremendously raw riffs along with their rather arrogant German-style, really smashing through and brought the darkness upon us.

Attic

Live candles were fired up directly after
Unlight left the stage and a whole new atmosphere was carried forward, an atmosphere that did not fit in with the German heavy metallers performance and very experimental sound not to mention the huge use of smoke that was unnecessary. I was immediately captured by the endless obese riffs played by one of the guitarists, it fit directly into the universe we all became a part of and was like drawn inspiration from the Polish black metal band
Mgla. Their lead singer '
Meister Cagliostro' seemed to stand out from the rest of the band first and foremost with his very clear inspiration from
King Diamond and
Mercyful Fate. It was a typical German mix of genres and a lot of confusion within their music about what they might want together as a band. They lifted the evening's lineup with a fresh breath and only did good things to this tour but their performance was far too monotonous and lacked originality.

Marduk

The time was in for many's highlights of the evening, but I do not think that highly of
Marduk since it is quite an over-hyped band and yes they have their mentioned releases but who has not. With that being said
Marduk invited us into their world of obscurity and devastation that proved how to complete a show in this extreme from start to finish on a live basis with a proper mix of smoke and sound of the highest quality. Once again, I was disappointed in their setlist, which never seems to offer anything out of the ordinary. With many years of experience, the talented musician's expertise really got through on stage, giving way to their miserable setlist choices. The crow did not go empty-handed and was not afraid to show their unruly movements and shouting for the band. It was clear that
Marduk had been missing on Danish soil this evening and second day of this 4th Viktoria tour.
