Ever since my first encounter with this duo live at the Danish underground festival Dark Mental, my mind was blown by their innovative sound. The show was based on their self-titled debut album, and if I remember correctly, it was released on the very date as they closed off the festival with their immense talent that goes beyond just Wesenwille.

II: A Material God is spiced with all the flavorful ingredients that make it a masterpiece of a follow-upper here three years later after the debut. The death metal elements are taken levels up, which has developed a livelier universe that occasionally sounds mechanical, for example on ‘Ritual’. Moving directly into ‘The Descent’ that so massively throws itself into a heavy and melodic noisy soundscape from the start, which in terms of production sets the album soaring. The song itself shrieks despair with phenomenal funeral doom inflections and a vocal that can indescribably capture one's attention just by listening to this one song. This album has some of the best vocal work I've heard in quite a long time.

Tiny matters like the first thirty seconds of ‘Opulent Black Smog’ where it starts off as if two songs collided. I had to check if I accidently did put something else on at the same time. The band keeps on performing melodic riffs and leans into creative concepts, more distorted and obscure than the story behind area 51. This is a really good suggestion for this year's album already, and I have nothing crucial to point out.
